Nestled between Kalamalka, Swan, and Okanagan Lakes in the Okanagan Valley, Vernon offers a host of activities in all seasons. In the summer, blow up an inner tube and relax in style in the cool waters of the many area beaches or make a splash at Atlantis Waterslides. Featuring 10 waterslides, a hot tub, mini golf course, and gift shop, it's no wonder Atlantis was voted the #1 Family Outing in the North Okanagan. Tours of the O’Keefe Historic Guest Ranch, where visitors can relive the days of pioneer farming, are available from May to October. Explore inside the O’Keefe mansion, built in 1886, or stroll around the grounds, to see old-fashioned equipment and a number of rare domestic livestock breeds such as Jacob and Shetland sheep, the Tomworth pig, and the Ancient White Park bull. For a “tour” of another kind, grab your clubs and escape to the lush green terrain of one of the city’s many golf courses. With challenging 9-, 18-, and 27-hole courses, it’s easy to see why enthusiasts flock from around the world to golf here.

Vernon winters provide equally alluring opportunities. Strap on your skis or snowboard and head up to Silver Star Mountain Resort, northeast of town, where 107 downhill runs and more than 100 km (62 mi.) of cross-country trails beckon skiers and snowboarders of all levels. In February, shake off the wintertime blues with a dose of Vernon's annual Winter Carnival. Watch the night sky light up in a spectacular hot air balloon display, or admire the intricate snow and ice sculptures on display in front of the library as you participate in a full range of winter festivities.

Vernon is located 46 km (29 mi.) north of Kelowna at the junction of Highways 97, 97A, and 6, making it easily accessible from all directions. While the municipal airport offers charter, fixed-wing, and helicopter services, visitors flying in on national and international airlines should fly into Kelowna. Bus service is also available.
